Position Description

The main scope of The DC Support Manager position is to ensure the appropriate material storage processes and functions are in place to support high levels of Inventory Accuracy; WMS development recommendations, training and utilization of SWMS; as well as all back-office processes including pick ticket control and communicating with external partners and internal teams at all retail facilities. Additionally, this individual has responsibilities of Marketplace/Wholesale fulfillment, and as a salaried Manager will support the Director in the overall management of the Operation.

This position is required to maintain a systematic approach to inventory control by ensuring materials are properly identified upon receipt, transactions are performed in a timely basis and cycle counts are utilized to ensure accuracy. This includes process development and reporting that keeps all functional managers apprised of inventory on a regular frequency. In addition, this position is responsible for the reconciliation of packaging materials and finished goods, inventory transactions, item disposition, and off-site inventory reconciliation. Furthermore, this role is responsible for the timely and proper processing of Marketplace/Whole sale orders and providing documentation to internal and external customers. This position reports to the DC Director and works collaboratively with accounting, IT, Control Buyers, and all other Operations Staff.

Requirements

Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Communication

  • Develop and report key inventory metrics and identify short- and long-term plans for improvement
  • Controls inventory by establishing and managing site Cycle Counting Program and Annual Physical Inventory; coordinating physical counts while reconciling with perpetual inventory system
  • Establishes and maintains business practices, procedures and documentation that ensures control of inventory, material storage and movements to the customer
  • Sets clear expectations for performance standards to inventory team
  • Communicates effectively with fellow Warehouse Team Leads to ensure smooth product flow
  • Assist with the development of new WMS features and upgrades and communicate changes to Team Leads and other DC personnel through scheduled training and/or creation of SOPs
  • Regularly participates in high level DC Operations meetings and provides meaningful feedback and data to support decision making

Leadership

  • Manage and monitor activities of all TL’s and department subordinates to ensure accuracy and integrity of all materials related to inventory accuracy. Work with the DC Director to train and apply correct procedures.
  • Coaches and mentor’s department members as needed to optimize performance. Provide solid training documentation to all DC Associates on the SWMS modules.
  • Review job performance of each subordinate so that employees training, and development are utilized
  • Enforces and maintains company safety and security policies and procedures, giving management feedback on any inconsistencies, strengths, and developmental needs of warehouse team
  • Directly responsible for Marketplace fulfillment and providing feedback to logistics and Inventory control

Problem Solving Skills

  • Analyze existing processes and recommend best cost savings initiatives to drive improvement
  • Analyze SKU profile and make appropriate storage and location decisions that will optimize replenishment and picking, labor and efficiencies

Organizational Skills

  • Coordinate inventory adjustments and month end reporting.
  • Work with the DC Director and WMS Improvement team to recommend changes to WMS
  • Organize and lead all aspects of the annual audits.

Experience

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Prior supervisory experience required. Lean background a plus
  • Inventory control knowledge in the following environments preferred: Distribution, Retail, Production, Multi-warehouse
  • Advanced MS Excel skills; proficient in MS applications (Access, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to multi-task with excellent organizational skills
  • Act with a sense of urgency to identify solutions in a high paced environment
  • Good internal and external customer-oriented communication skills both oral and written
  • Must have a positive attitude; ability to think and respond quickly in a fast-paced work environment
  • Work well in a team setting and be detailed oriented
  • Ability to define problems, collect relevant data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to exercise effective time management and planning skills in a high pressure, high energy environment
  • Understands the P&H culture and CLEAR vision
