Peacock Therapeutic School is Hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional Near Addison, IL

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will work closely with students who have special needs, providing support and assistance in the classroom. Your role will be crucial in helping students reach their full potential and achieve academic success.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Assist in creating and implementing lesson plans that align with the curriculum
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students, reinforcing concepts taught by the teacher
- Assist students with assignments, projects, and assessments
- Monitor student progress and document observations
- Support students with behavioral management strategies
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists or occupational therapists, to provide comprehensive support to students
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required

Experience:
- Previous experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies is a plus
- Familiarity with lesson planning and curriculum development is beneficial
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or in deaf education is advantageous
- Understanding of childhood development and learning styles

Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patience and empathy when working with students who may have diverse learning needs
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles
- Excellent organizational skills to assist in managing student records and documentation
