Your Impactful Role

  • Ensures all revenue is posted to the accounts receivable and balanced to cash received.
  • Identifies, documents, and communicates best practices to simplify and standardize the cash and clearing reconciliation process.
  • Serve as point of contact for complex and escalated issues.
  • Maintain all EFT/ERA enrollments.
  • Will receive daily deposit of insurance checks, and forward to appropriate parties for information.
  • Provides training in posting staff on cash and clearing account reconciliations.
  • Will be responsible for ensuring that lockbox is opened and sorted in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes, and distributes daily, weekly, and monthly, financial management reports.
  • Prepares notice of those items that cannot be applied to a specific invoice, research and supplies back-up information.
  • Assists in month-end closing process including but not limited to preparing detailed account analysis, preparing reports necessary, ensuring data is properly recorded to provide accurate, accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepares necessary adjusting entries for reimbursement variances, ensuring appropriate records are maintained for cost reporting.
  • Researches any cash application problems and takes the appropriate corrective action. assuring data is accurate and submitted in accordance with processing deadlines.
  • Post all payments and write-offs to the appropriate accounts, maintaining the highest of quality for each transaction processed.
  • Determine denial codes to be used for clear communication of the reason for balance due on the statement to patients.
  • Contact insurance companies on questionable EOB’s.
  • Verify the payment received is paid per the specific payer contract.
  • Ensures the posting of payments is done in a 48-hour turnaround time.
  • Complete additional special projects and reports as needed.
  • Participate in regular calls with the Director of Revenue Cycle and Manager.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Associate degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum three years in medical office setting.
  • Prior experience using electronic scheduling and electronic medical software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and the use of modifiers preferred.
  • Knowledge of physician billing and/or collections.
  • Typing speed 55 wpm and the ability to use a calculator.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The employee will operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copy machine, computer, and other office equipment as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods of time and to work in an environment which can be very stressful. May be required to travel to one or more satellite locations. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. It is an open and potentially distracting office environment. It could require having to handle stressful situations including confrontation.
