Peabody Energy is Hiring a Specialist Commodities Procurement Near St. Louis, MO

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Commodities Specialist at our corporate headquarters in St. Louis, MO
Reporting to the Director, Commodities, this role will be responsible for managing procurement activities for various sourcing categories. The individual will implement and execute supplier management and negotiation strategies to meet the business requirements for equipment, materials, and services procurement related to specific groups of spend across the Americas platform.
Duties will Include:
Sourcing
  • Implement and effectively manage the procurement and strategy for assigned categories of spend.
  • Facilitate the implementation of standardized strategic sourcing procedures and business process improvements to achieve required business results.
  • Manage supplier qualification and measurement.
  • Perform analyses on spend categories to determine the most favorable decisions for the company.
General
  • Manage the procurement activities for specific spend categories to enhance safety and optimize the balance between cost and value, speed of execution and vendor support levels.
  • Implement sourcing and risk management strategies to achieve cost reductions, minimize risk and support the achievement of business objectives.
  • Negotiate the procurement of equipment, materials, supplies, and services.
  • Interface with Law, Risk Management, Treasury, Safety, and others as necessary to ensure optimal contractual terms and conditions.
The lifestyle:
This position is a full-time role working Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm CST. Peabody offers flexible work policies, including hybrid office/home working arrangements.
About you:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. Engineering or business-related discipline
  • 5 years of practical experience in procurement
  • Knowledge of corporate governance policies, protocols and procedures
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to interface with management, accounting and outside vendors
  • Effective software and documentation capabilities with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Mining industry experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective planning/project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability in identifying areas for sourcing and cost reduction initiatives
  • Self-starter with independent work habits
  • Must be able to travel to remote mining operations and supplier locations
Physical Requirements:
  • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
  • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
  • Must be able to use a computer
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively
  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
