Pathology Medical Services, P.C. is Hiring an Accountant/Controller Near Lincoln, NE

We are a medical practice seeking an individual who thrives in a multi-faceted role, blending accounting, finance, IT, HR, revenue-cycle, and project management to join our team as a Controller. This is a newly created position that will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to support various financial and business initiatives within the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and business practices, exceptional analytical skills, the ability to effortlessly bridge gaps across teams and functions and has an eye for organizational leadership. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to advance their career and be a potential successor to the CFO.

Performs comprehensive accounting and finance functions, tax reporting, and various administrative duties. Includes recording, compiling, reviewing, analyzing, and maintaining financial statements, business transactions, records, and reports. Performs an active role in IT, HR, revenue-cycle, and project management. Required to work with multiple computerized systems and software. Highly initiative-taking and able to perform multiple functions.

  • Collaborate with the CFO and senior management to develop and implement strategies to optimize company performance.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and forecasts to provide insights into the company's financial health and performance.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry trends, and make recommendations for adjustments to financial practices as needed.
  • Conduct regular audits of financial processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement and ensure internal controls are effective.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
  • Understand software logic for software systems that have either a direct or indirect impact on financial and revenue cycle transactions, i.e., accounting software, payroll software, Laboratory Information System, Interfaces, etc.
  • Ensures that accounting software(s) are regularly updated to enhance security and operational performance.
  • Assist in software design and setup that will streamline records and transactions, simplify reporting, and result in clear and concise data extraction.
  • Assist with tax planning, audits, and compliance, including the preparation of tax returns, and ensuring timely submission.
  • Performs budgeting, banking, payroll, asset management, and accounts payable functions.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities by gathering and analyzing financial data and trends.
  • Assist in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contractual agreements, including but not limited to service agreements, purchase agreements, client agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. Ensure contract compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Assist in development and maintaining of policies, procedures, and educational materials; conducts training as needed.
  • Continually advance knowledge and skills, through self-initiated approaches and assigned webinars, workshops, etc.
  • Attends and participates in committees and meetings.
  • Ensures the smooth day-to-day flow of work and communications.
  • Interacts positively with a wide variety of people in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
