- Direct and supervise terminal operations, including inbound and outbound freight handling, yard management, and equipment utilization.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and optimize terminal productivity, efficiency, and turnaround times.
- Coordinate with maintenance and repair teams to ensure proper functioning of terminal equipment and infrastructure.
- Recruit, train, and supervise terminal personnel, including supervisors, operators, and support staff.
- Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and facilitate effective communication within the terminal.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Ensure compliance with labor agreements, company policies, and applicable laws.
- Collaborate with customers, shipping lines, trucking companies, and other stakeholders to meet service expectations and resolve any issues or concerns.
- Monitor and address customer feedback, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and building strong relationships.
- Communicates with the terminal manager for daily, weekly, and monthly production targets to maintain profitability).
- Monitor production levels, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Identify and implement strategies to improve performance and production efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing rail operations, safety, and environmental standards.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices, implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and participate in audits and inspections.
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or 5 years in a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in rail terminal operations, preferably in intermodal transportation.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
- Sound knowledge of rail operations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in using terminal management software and other relevant technology such as: Microsoft Office Suite that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, Skype for Business, Access) Exchange Online (email, calendar, tasks) SharePoint Online (web portal for collaboration)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
