Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Director of Women's Services, you will be responsible tomonitor and direct utilization of resources related to patient care. This includes to plan and provide patient care utilizing the nursing process, provide leadership and direction to staff members, and manage the physical environment of the patient care unit. The Director will demonstrate and promote professionalism at all times and monitor performance of staff assigned to unit and coach as appropriate. They assist with planning and organizing the orientation of new employees, complete payroll, attendance records and unit schedule as assigned and assure staff compliance/response to emergency situations/codes. The Director collaborates with managers, physicians and hospital leadership to coordinate effective patient care and also provide staff with coaching/counseling if needed and assist with daily patient rounds.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will assist with circulating cesarean sections and with transport responsibilities during vaginal or cesarean births.
  • You will actively demonstrate care and concern to patients/customers and communicate in an effective and positive manner at all times with all individuals.
  • You will actively participate in performance management processes.
  • Your role complies with infection control policies and assists with monitoring compliance with Infection Control and Patient Safety initiatives.
  • Your role supports Patient Rights and upholds Organizational Ethics by demonstrating integration of the patient’s cultural and spiritual needs and beliefs into their care plan.
  • You will demonstrate an understanding of the objectives of the ethics and compliance program and treat others with dignity and respect at all times.
  • You will comply with Confidentiality and Security Agreement and assist Unit Director in assuring compliance with HIPPA, EMTALA and other regulations that govern hospital activities.
  • Your role assures access to medication is secure and controlled at all times and safely and accurately utilizes the eMAR system; Demonstrates proper reporting of Adverse Drug Reactions.
  • You will demonstrate knowledge and response to emergency codes and assure staff members are compliant with response to emergencies and codes.
  • You will report and or correct unsafe conditions and initiate work orders as needed and support a culture of safety by completing notifications promptly (employee, patient and visitor) including reporting errors and near misses.
  • Your role participates in maintaining a state of continual survey and regulatory readiness.
  • You will be flexible in response to unexpected changes in work volume, emergencies, staffing and or scheduling changes; Effectively solve staff, patient and physician issues.
  • You will complete employee schedule using healthy work environment guidelines/policies and enters it into the scheduler system.
  • Your role provides coaching/counseling to employees as indicated and contributes to the Team Success.
  • Your role contributes to department cost savings efforts (e.g. limiting end of shift overtime, extra education hours, flex staffing, etc.)
  • You will manage supplies in a cost effective manner (e.g. supply scanning, crediting supplies not used, overuse of supplies, etc.)
  • Your role promotes and supports the I-HEAL Service program and participates in Safety Huddle assuring inclusion of all staff members.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, Bachelors required; MSN preferred

  • Current TN RN or Compact State License in state of residence

  • 2 years Labor/Delivery experience preferred. 2 years of Mother Baby experience preferred

  • NRP and STABLE required within 6 months of hire/transfer

  • BLS and ACLS required within 90 days of hire/transfer

Parkridge East Hospital is a 120 bed facility in East Ridge. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services. These services include orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department. This ED is recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures. We also hold a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specialized providers in the NICU include neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists. These staff are on site at all times. Visit us for excellent general and OB care!
