OVERVIEW:

The Medical Assistant will assist in the examination and treatment of patients following established standards and practices as directed by the healthcare providers.

The work schedule will be:

Thursday & Sunday: 9:30 am - 7 pm

Friday: 9 am - 2 pm

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greet patients in the waiting area, assure patient flow runs smoothly and efficiently, and escort patients to the discharge counter.
• Obtain patient history, measure vital signs, and record information on the chart.
• Explain treatment procedures and prepare patient and exam room for examination.
• Position instruments and equipment and hand them to the physician as directed.
• Perform diagnostic tests, including EKGs.
• Change sterile and non-sterile dressings.
• Complete medical chart to include medical services rendered, test results, and supplies used.
• Monitor disposable inventory and place orders for medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
• Perform quality checks on medical equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two years of medical assisting experience.
• Knowledge of EMR systems is highly preferred.
• Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology.
• Required BLS/CPR certification.
• Preferred completion of an accredited medical assistance program.
• Ability to escort or transport a patient by wheelchair or stretcher when appropriate.
• Ability to walk up and down stairs.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic medical records.
• Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
