Parametrix, a leading engineering, planning, and environmental sciences consulting firm, is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our team of dedicated professionals in the Pacific Northwest. We are working on important environmental, transportation, solid waste, and water quality projects and are proud to have an established relationship with a range of clients, providing us the opportunity to support and enhance the communities in which we live and work. This position has flexibility to work remotely and come into the office for mentorship, project, and team collaboration.

You will have the opportunity to provide environmental planning and compliance services while partnering with scientists, planners and engineers. Job responsibilities include conducting and/or supporting Phase I ESAs, assisting with writing environmental documentation including NEPA and SEPA impact analyses; assisting with environmental permitting efforts; and developing documentation for a variety of planning studies. Field work is limited to performing site walks in support of environmental site assessments and planning documentation (less than 5% per month). Additional opportunities to assist in field efforts are available. Great writing and problem-solving skills are essential.

Who you are:

Experience: 3 years of experience, including prior experience in conducting Phase I ESAs and authoring sections of planning or permitting studies. A strong writer with a background in multidisciplinary sciences and/or engineering who can assess the relationship between the natural and built environment for a variety of local, state, federal, and private clients. The ideal candidate would also be able to interpret and assist with development of alternatives using available information related to one or more of the following subjects: contaminated sites, soil taxonomy (NRCS), geological assessments (e.g. geologic hazards, geotechnology, surface geology, hydrogeology, geomorphology), aquifer use assessments, hazardous building material assessments, or similar.

Curious and Passionate: A positive professional with a passion for environmental consulting and interest in a diverse variety of projects. Interest in multidisciplinary projects and connecting disparate pieces of data to the bigger picture is advantageous.

Relationship-Focused: Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative approach, standout colleague, and not afraid to ask questions. Driven to support and serve clients. We are seeking highly motivated candidates to work collaboratively with clients and peers.

Excel at Communication: Demonstrated ability to clearly express ideas and convey information in verbal and written form with advanced technical writing skills. Capable of working remotely, independently, and collaboratively.

Base salary for this position is in the range of $75,000-$90,000 . Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, location, and role. For all positions we conduct an equity review. Employee-owners are all eligible for performance-based bonuses based on key contributions. Salaries are reviewed at least once annually as part of our compensation program.
