Paradise Valley Country Club is hiring a Landscape Maintenance Foreman

Pay Range: $20-24.00 per hour DOE

Location: 7101 N. Tatum Blvd. Paradise Valley, AZ 85253

Hours: Must be able to start at 5:00am.

We Are Seeking 

The Landscape Maintenance foreman position performs specialized installations, maintenance and repair work related to their assigned area of responsibility. This includes performing inspections and preventative maintenance of property grounds and a variety of equipment. They identify issues and initiate the repair or replacement of items. Inspecting and monitoring conditions of assigned areas on the property to determine compliance with prescribed standards established by the department. The position will be responsible for water management and irrigation best practices within assigned areas. This position will also train and oversee subordinate staff on landscape and irrigation maintenance. They also maintain and/or clean club facilities, courts, structures, grounds, golf course deserts and equipment. About

This position works onsite year-round at Paradise Valley Country Club maintaining country club grounds, landscape beds, annual flower beds/pots and Golf Course Deserts. Responsibilities include leading and working alongside a crew to safely accomplish production goals (typically 4 crew members) for our member experience. The primary function of this position is to perform basic manual labor and general landscaping associated with the maintenance of grounds, and irrigation systems including mowing, weed control and removal, turf maintenance, shrub/tree maintenance and removals. Practical experience maintaining commercial irrigation systems for areas such as sports fields, parks, and golf courses is desirable. Ideal candidates will be safety-conscience and manage time wisely. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the interpersonal and communication skills needed to build positive relationships with members and co-workers and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Experience:

· Landscape Maintenance: 1 year (preferred)

· Supervisory/Foreman: 1 year (preferred

Requirements

Essential Duties: 

· Support PVCC Vision, Mission and Goals. 

· Maintains and cares for country club grounds. Duties include cleaning up leaves, plant debris, trash, mowing grass, trimming bushes and trees, planting shrubs and trees, planting, and care for annual flowers, inspecting grounds for safety concerns, maintaining sprinkler systems and drip irrigation.

· Maintain landscaping equipment, and routinely check vehicles used by crew. Report any issues to supervisor. 

· Special projects include landscape lighting, fence repair, flood damage repair, monsoon storm damage, sprinkler installation, and pouring concrete. May mix chemicals for weed control spraying. 

· Operates hand or motorized lawn mowers and other associated lawn equipment. 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)

· Minimum five years of previous experience and/or training in grounds maintenance, athletic field maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, equipment operation and manual labor.

· Valid AZ Class D Driver’s License

· Agree to maintain a Drug-Free Workplace as a condition of employment.

· Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by company standards.

· Must be able to lead by example following Paradise Valley Country Clubs core values (quality, efficiency, safety, and teamwork).

· Ability to plan and organize work, including creating/communicating/executing the work plan, while evaluating the risk and managing a safe operation.

· Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the interpersonal and communication skills needed to build positive relationships with members and co-workers and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

· Effectively speaking in both English and Spanish is preferred.

· Non-allergic to grasses, trees, plants, and common fertilizers. 

· Experienced in seeding and transplanting beds, irrigation systems, selective pruning and hedge trimming and the application of appropriate chemicals and fertilizers. 

· Skilled in power tool operation including chainsaw, pole saw, stump grinder, auger, jackhammer, hedge trimmer, back-hoe, etc.

· Skilled in proper pruning techniques.

· Skilled in proper tree trimming: Crown thinning, crown lifting-understands the structure of a tree.

· Skilled in Irrigation systems: Electrical troubleshooting, controller construction, controller settings, manifold/valve construction, system troubleshooting, and extending irrigation systems.

· Skilled in low voltage landscape lighting systems: installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

· Identification of common landscape shrubs and trees utilized valley wide.

Responsibilities

· Include leading and working alongside a crew to safely accomplish the workload assigned (typically 4 crew members) for our country club grounds.

· Hold supervisory responsibilities over Ground Maintenance Worker I & II’s such as training and performance.

· Execute and lead daily and weekly plans to achieve maintenance goals.

· Communicating production goals (and other items of interest) with crew and supervisor.

· Managing seasonal projects such as large-scale plant installation, construction-type landscape repair, troubleshooting other concerns, etc.

· This position performs specialized installation, maintenance and repair work related to their assigned area of responsibility.

· Preventative maintenance of equipment, grounds, or other items.

· Identify issues and initiate the repair, maintenance, or replacement of items.

· Inspecting and monitoring conditions of assigned grounds areas to determine compliance with prescribed standards established by the department to meet property expectations.

· The position will be responsible for water management and irrigation best practices within assigned areas.

· This position will also train and oversee subordinate staff on landscape, field, and irrigation maintenance.

· They also maintain and/or clean club facilities, courts, trails, and ground equipment.

· Practical experience maintaining commercial irrigation systems.

· Installation and repair of country club low voltage landscape lighting systems.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to perform the following duties:

· Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions with environmental noise.

· Moving about on foot with minimal rest.

· Operate and inspect landscaping equipment.

· Raising or lowering objects from one level to another from 35-100lbs.

· Occasionally ascending or descending ladders using feet and legs or hands and arms.

· Frequently utilize 20-pound backpack blower.

· Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force or towards the force. 

· Frequently required to position body to perform maintenance duties by bending body downward and forward at the waist often requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine

· Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. 

· Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching on narrow slippery surfaces. 

· Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. 

· Clarity of vision at various ranges up to 20 feet including observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point. 

· Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships to see objects where and as they are. 

· Exposure to the following environmental conditions including weather, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, vibration, extreme heat, noise, and toxic chemicals.
