The Position:

As a Perioperative Services Assistant at Panorama Eyecare, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to deliver the best eyecare. The Role

Perioperative assistants are needed to fulfill the mission statement at Panorama Eye Care by assisting with the effectiveness and efficiency of the surgical/procedural experience of the patient under the direction of the RN /Physician based on their scope of practice.

Major Responsibilities:

Job Duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/ Physician include but are not limited to:

  • Champions the Mission Statement of the Panorama Eye Care Family. 
  • Works with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience.
  • Maintains a friendly, positive, and caring attitude with all patients, other guests, physicians and staff.
  • Organizes daily work in order of priority. 
  • Takes initiative in helping team members to provide the best care for the patient.
  • Stocks supplies and inventory management in the Perioperative Area.
  • Cleans patient care areas and medical equipment.
  • Assists in preparation of patient for surgery and laser procedures under the direction of the RN/Physician: supervised tasks with demonstrated competency may include but are not limited to vital signs, pre-operative paperwork, EKG’s, blood glucose monitoring, patient comfort and safety as determined by their scope of practice and training.
  • Assists in Phase II recovery with vital signs, refreshments, and discontinuing IV under supervision.
  • Answers phone and takes messages accordingly. Assists with pre-Op and post-op calls a directed. 
  • Processes and fills patient surgery charts out.
  • Executes chart audits.
  • EMR documentation including logs, pre-op surgical visit, phone calls, surgery scheduling, allergies and documenting medications.
  • Transports patients: Pre-op and Post-op.
  • Communicates with other health care team members to ensure continuity of care in the ASC and in other departments.
  • Prepares for emergency situations by knowing correct policy and procedure locations of emergency equipment.
  • IV Certified staff may start a peripheral IV (Saline lock) under the scope of their practice and training. 
  • Under ASC Licensure only nurses and physicians may give medications in an ASC.
  • Attends all Mandatory Staff Meetings.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Flexible hours/shifts

Requirements

Who You Are

Performance/Skills Requirements:

  • Ability to follow direction and have good interpersonal and good customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned duties.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Xcel. 
  • Ability to learn and navigate EMR (Next Gen).
  • Demonstrates age specific competencies for the Adult and Pediatric patient.

Education/Certifications/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified (within 3 months of employment).
  • CNA, CEMT or CMA, COA, COT, and COMT. Must have current appropriate licensure in the State of Colorado, if applicable. 
  • Previous nursing assistant or medical experience required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time (up to 12 hours per day) in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and twist without restriction, pain or discomfort.
  • Ability to assist patients in turning, rising from recliners and stretchers.
  • Ability to assist patients in and out of wheelchairs, push wheelchairs.
  • Ability to assist with moving patients on and off the operating room stretcher.

Additional Job Details

  • Works at our clinic location, ECNC Precision. 
  • This is a Full-Time Position. (30 hours expected weekly)
  • Compensation for this role will be $20 - $22 an hour based on experience/certification.
