**Data Steward, CDL-Global**
The Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a not-for-profit seed-stage program for massively scalable, science-based companies. Its nine-month program pairs founders with experienced entrepreneurs and investors to set focused, measurable objectives with the goal of maximizing equity-value creation. Founded in 2012 at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, the program has now expanded with locations in Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Halifax, Oxford, Paris, Wisconsin, and Atlanta. Since its inception, companies that have participated in the CDL program have created more than $9.2 billion (CAD) in equity value.
The CDL-R&D team develops research-based methods to measure, understand and predict on the determinants of start-up success.
Under the direction of the Research and Development Lead, the Data Steward has significant responsibility for collecting and organizing data and conducting preliminary analyses. CDL data is generated as a result of the involvement of some of the worlds leading venture investors, scientists and entrepreneurs with our program. Thus, ideal Data Steward candidates must recognize the value of working with such novel and unique data.
**Education/Qualifications**
* Bachelors degree with strong preference for specializations in business, statistics or econometrics
* Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software
* One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language
* Experience with data visualization tools
* Knowledge of AWS lambda infrastructure is preferred but not required
* Strong writing skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
**Duties:**
* Collects, organizes, and pre-processes previously collected data
* Builds new datasets that may require manual or programmatic data collection
* Keeps the organizations database updated
* Leverages appropriate tools for visualizing data
* Conducts statistical analyses on data as requested by the R&D Lead
* Assists in writing database documentation
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
This is a 6-month contract position.
