Paloma Resorts, a leading hospitality company in picturesque Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controller to manage the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit and control, and asset / liability reconciliation. The Senior Controller also plans, directs and manages the provision of accurate, timely and objective financial data from which informed management decisions can be made. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality finance, exceptional leadership abilities, and a proactive approach to financial management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSJob responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:Direct preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecastsSupport management with resort financial goals by direct preparation of monthly and annual reports.Monitors accounts receivable, ensures that bills are mailed in a timely and accurate manner.Ensure all banks are balanced and accounted for.Ensure compliance with Paloma Legacy policies and procedures and all applicable laws.Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.Ensure the collection and remittance of applicable local, state and federal taxes.Review bi-weekly payroll processingEnsure accurate and timely financial statement preparation – currently 4 companiesOversee and backup support as needed for all IT needsProvide support to HR manager as neededEnsure all current federal and local regulations are followedEnsure proper controls in place for company from accounting to F&B to hotel operationsManage capital projects – track expenditures, submit bank funding drawsComplete all external company audits, including financial, 401K, insuranceCoordinate all software conversions – vet software through demonstrations, arrange conversion including data transfer & accounting setup / structure, and anything necessary to ensure accurate and smooth transitionPrepare / maintain ongoing federal and state tax projectionsWork with ownership on any legal issues as they ariseManage accounting team and ensure all day-to-day task are completed timely and accuratePrepare historical analytics as required or requested for banksAssist / advise ownership with any financial requestPractice safe work habits in completion of job duties EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEBachelor’s Degree in Accounting or FinanceHigh command of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications as well as Delphi, EZSuite, Sage, Ceridian Dayforce and AgilysysFour (4) to six (6) years financial and management experience in an upscale hospitality resort environment, including a Condo-Hotel with an HOA SUCCESS FACTORSThe attributes listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well orally and in writing and manage well at all levels of the organization.Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple projects.Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills.Ability to process work with accuracy and perform multiple tasks simultaneouslyDelegate work assignments, give authority to work independently, train staff, and set expectations / monitor delegated activitiesInclude staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; makes self available to staff; provides regular performance feedback; and develops subordinates’ skills and encourages growth.Look for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be able to exert well-paced ability for up to 8-10 hours in length.Must be able to have good communication skills to be able to interact with customers and other departments.Must be able to work in limited space must be able to lift up to 15 lbs, occasionally.Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and subordinates.Ability to spend extended lengths of time viewing a computer screen and typing on a keyboardExtended use of vision with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, fax machines, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed.
