We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to become an important part of a rapidly growing company. The Assistant Controller will be expected to perform a variety of general accounting functions which include supervising the Staff Accountant I and Staff Accountant II positions. This position will report to the Controller/VP of Accounting and is responsible for preparing financial statements, reviews and analyzing financial information.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Supervise the Staff Accounting positions which includes the accounts payable team
• Monitor and review the financial transactions and activities for accounts payable, inventory, sales, and other expenses
• Supervise the lease accounting reporting guidelines and reporting
• Prepare financial reports and statements for the company and ensure that we are in compliance with various policies, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles
• Contribute to the preparation of annual budgeting and forecasting
• Assist with external audit requests and provide information as requested
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, fixed assets and other financial data
• Prepare journal entries and maintain and reconcile accounts
• Assist with the development, review, and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists and related documentation

Qualifications/Required Skills:

• College Education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Minimum 5-7 years of Accounting/Finance experience preferably in retail sector
• Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Suite
• Experience with QuickBooks, LeaseQuery and Sage Fixed Assets a plus
• Well organized, proactive, must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Ability to adhere to highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters
• Ability to maintain open, direct, positive, and objective lines of communication with management
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
