Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation is Hiring a Recreation Specialist I Near Delray Beach, FL

The South County Civic Center is looking to hire a Recreation Specialist I / Facility Rental and Operations Assistant.

Duties:

  • Prepares, develops, coordinates, facilitates, implements and monitors facility permits and rentals under the supervision of the Facility Manager.
  • Meets with the public, facility renters, clubs, user groups, and other organizations to facilitate use of indoor and outdoor on-site facilities.
  • Directs the work of others in the absence of the manager.
  • Coordinates, monitors and enforces park, facility, program rules/regulations and County ordinances; assures safety, adequacy and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Assists with program registration, permits and reservations using facility permitting software; receives and processes payments and fees.
  • Assists with general cleaning of facility for rentals and recreational activities.
  • Prepares and sets up/breaks down facility room rentals including tables, chairs and storage racks, dance floor, room divider curtains, field marking equipment, audio/visual and technology equipment.
  • Communicates information to the public, participants, external and internal customers regarding County, Department and facility.
  • Assists with various recreation programming; formulates new programs; furthers public relations for the County.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Health and Physical Education or related field; minimum of six (6) months of experience organizing and supervising recreational activities.

Equivalencies:

1. Unrelated Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of related experience

2. Related Associate's Degree and two and a half (2 ½) years of related experience

3. Unrelated Associate's Degree and three and a half (3 ½) years of related experience

4. Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and four and a half (4 ½) years of related experience.

Necessary Special Requirement: Must possess or obtain First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification within six (6) months of hire.

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE WITH: Customer service including providing information and resolving concerns/complaints from the public (must specify on application); coordinating rentals of facilities or athletic fields; computers and audiovisual equipment (must specify on application). Also desirable: Bilingual (English/Spanish); First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (copy of Certification must be uploaded to online application by 5:00 P.M. on the closing date).
