PaintJet is redefining the industrial painting market by introducing advanced robotics, AI and material sciences to optimize the coating process. Our automated approach tackles the systemic labor shortage by focusing on increasing painter productivity and precision application while reducing material waste. We are hiring a Business Unit Director in Dallas, TX, to ensure operational excellence as we scale the company nationwide. This role will play a pivotal role in driving business growth through sales, estimating, and operational leadership.

The Impact You'll Make in This Role:

The Business Unit Director (Dallas) is a highly visible role responsible for helping PaintJet become an exponentially scalable organization. In this position, will be responsible for fully understanding the market landscape and opportunities for commercial painting contractors in the specified sectors, and leveraging this knowledge to grow our operational capabilities and market presence.

As PaintJet’s Business Unit Director (Dallas), you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the commercial painting market, with a focus on tilt-up construction, large commercial buildings, and key sectors including aviation, logistics, agricultural, and data storage.
  • Takes ownership of the project information and is able to deliver project status to appropriate parties.
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities within the Dallas market, including sales prospecting, lead generation, and client relationship management.
  • Lead the sales and estimating process for this market, preparing accurate and competitive bids for projects while ensuring profitability and adherence to company standards.
  • Build and manage a high-performing operations team to execute painting projects efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
  • Implement new technology and innovation into the field operations, leveraging robotics-enhanced solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of work.
  • Collect and analyze data from technology implementation and field operations, reporting back to the leadership team to identify areas for improvement and optimize performance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize operational processes, enhance productivity, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with the COO and other stakeholders to align business objectives, prioritize initiatives, and achieve company goals.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to inform strategic decision-making and drive innovation.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the client's satisfaction.

Education & Work Related Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial painting, with a proven track record of success in sales, estimating, and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of the Dallas commercial construction market, particularly in tilt-up construction and large commercial buildings.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas and information clearly and persuasively.

Target Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000 annually potential productivity bonus

Work Hours: This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours

Work Location: Remote, but must reside in the Dallas area with travel to job sites regularly

Travel Requirements: This position requires the incumbent to travel for up to 50% of the time
