Job Description: Senior Operations Manager

Outerspace is a new type of Ops Center. We come from the brand side and have built and led operations for companies like Steve Madden, Prada and Nice Laundry. We leverage the latest technology to support our high growth brands and their daily operations. Outerspace provides a number of services including, but not limited to, warehousing and fulfillment, customization and light manufacturing, and product photography. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated fulfillment center Senior Operations Manager to join our growing team. This position is a multi-faceted role requiring the ability to balance strategy and execution that leads a dynamic team of Operations and Area Managers to achieve operational excellence through coaching and mentoring. Always striving to drive employee engagement and building leadership bench strength within Outerspace’s operations team.

A successful candidate has the ability to be a team player and demonstrates leadership in building teams based on a culture of continuous improvement for processes and operations. This strong candidate develops robust, trusting relationships with key stakeholders and identifies opportunities to improve the fulfillment center operations. 

Responsibilities:

• Partner closely with key stakeholders and senior operations leadership to improve the fulfillment center operations, from people management and development to processes in order to meet and exceed the expectations and promises made to our clients.
• Command a strong senior presence, lead and build a team of high performing operations personnel and sets clear goals and expectations for managers (Area and Operations).
• Establishes objectives and key results (OKRs) metrics for safety, employee engagement, collaboration, quality, productivity, and customer experience.
• Create and maintain a strong safety culture that continuously seeks to eliminate risks from the operation.
• Drive creation of quality and processes changes initiatives as well as other lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately exede business plans.
• Monitor and drive KPIs end to end metrics to ensure that Outerspace is providing excellent customer service and experience and delivering on our promise.
• Support operational strategy and innovation to drive business goals - revenue, operational performance and profitability.
• Effectively leverages all the managers (Operations and Area) to solicit ideas and understand problems and challenges in the entire operations flow.
• Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with effective communication and thorough follow-ups.
• Analytical abilities and knowledge necessary to gather and interpret data to further develop, make recommendations/suggestions and implement solutions.
• Works closely with other departments (HR, Finance/Accounting, IT, Compliance and other leaders) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of new tools, processes and technology that will drive up our teams’ efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Networks with other leaders across the company to solicit and share process improvements and drive efficiencies and cost savings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Operations or related field strongly preferred.
• 7 years of management and warehousing experience including, but not limited to, retail distribution, logistics, warehouse operations and transportation management.
• Superb people skills in mentoring, coaching/counseling, motivation, performance management, and employee relations.
• Proven track record to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement, provide accurate reporting, and utilize data.
• Must have impeccable communication skills – both verbal and written.
• Proactive organizing, planning, and multi-tasking skills required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated understanding of warehouse management systems.
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office and G-suites products preferred.
• Must be able to stand and/or walk for 8 hours per day.
• Should be able to work in an environment with variable noise levels.
• Must be able to access all areas of the building without limitation.
• Must be able to move and lift boxes up to 40 lbs.
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
• Bilingual Spanish a plus, but not required
