Systems Engineer

Cepeda, a rapidly growing small company in Huntsville, AL, is currently seeking a Systems Engineer supporting NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support coordination of operations and hardware capability design definition, requirements development, and verification planning for proposed systems
  • Interaction with teams to ensure all requirements and integration aspects are appropriately defined, negotiated and documented
  • Interacting with analysis teams to coordinate mission unique analyses
  • Identify design options within the solution space and lead or support functional architecting and/or functional analyses.
  • Perform thorough technical assessments of proposed internal and external interactions, requirements, planning and execution to understand the impacts imposed by external design and product development/updates.
  • Assist with the functional decomposition of requirements into verification requirements which can be verified and validated
  • As necessary, generate and coordinate Interface Requirement Document(s) (IRD) as well as Interface Control Document(s) (ICD) content to ensure the necessary and complete integration of requirements
  • Identify and communicate risks associated with spacecraft or vehicle design
  • Review documentation related to primary responsibilities and provide feedback and coordination on any findings
  • Facilitate cross program exchanges as needed (data, hardware, software)

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Degree in engineering, physical sciences, mathematics with the equivalent of a Bachelor of Science with 5 years of relevant experience or Master’s with 3 years of relevant experience
  • An understanding of vehicle systems definition, functional requirement development, and/or design integration
  • Must be able to breakdown complex problems or issues into manageable pieces to facilitate resolution of technical concerns
  • Experience in space systems operations or interface requirements and definition
  • Experience reading and working with engineering drawings, interface control documents, configuration documents, or other technical documentation
  • Knowledge and previous use of Atlassian-Jira project environments
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills

Preferred Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience coordinating top-level interface/integration agreements with stakeholders and developers.
  • Understanding of the NASA systems engineering policies and procedures, and familiarity with the Artemis Campaign or an associated Program.
  • Working knowledge of NASA MSFC requirements management processes which includes government requirements and standards including, but not limited to NASA Systems Engineering Processes and Requirements, NASA NPR 7123.1, and NASA Software Engineering Requirements, NPR 7150.2
