Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Accessibility Services, the Accessibility Services Coordinator assists with coordinating the provision of accommodations and other services to enable students with disabilities. This individual coordinates services for students with disabilities by securing documentation, maintaining student files, developing and implementing an accommodation plan, overseeing accommodation testing, and providing referral resources as necessary. The coordinator maintains adherence to legal, professional, and ethical standards in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments of 2008. The position works collaboratively within the Wellness Center areas, Division of Student Affairs, and other university entities by creating and sustaining a culture that promotes student learning and engagement. This position is funded by the Title V DHSI Grant.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews disability documentation, develops and administers direct support services to eligible students with disabilities, and determines and coordinates reasonable accommodations for qualified students under the ADA.
  • Works with faculty to assist and aid in providing appropriate information/materials to proctor accommodation exams in a timely manner.
  • Develops accommodation testing schedules that fit the needs of staff, faculty, and students.
  • Returns all student exams by emailing scanned copies or arranging professor pick up.
  • Supervises graduate student proctors in OLLU Testing Center.
  • Collaborates with the Center for Career Development and Testing to help students with disabilities write resumes and letters to prospective employers, learn job search skills, make contact with prospective employers, and complete job applications.
  • Collaborates with Director of Accessibility Services to provide professional development for faculty and students.
  • Attends staff meetings, division meetings, and other committee meetings as assigned.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of The Americans with Disabilities Act (AA, 2008) and how it applies to higher education, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (504), proficiency in the various modes of counseling, IEPs, and interpretation of psycho-educational evaluations to assess and identify client needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of university and community resources.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and flexible hours (evenings) on an as-needed basis.
  • Ability to speak Spanish (preferred).

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, or other related field required (Master's preferred).
  • Three years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and providing disability-related accommodations and resources in a higher education, rehabilitation, or social service setting.
