We are looking for a long-term elementary substitute teacher. The substitute teacher would be responsible for the direct supervision and instruction of students within the school during the teacher’s absence. They will follow the curriculum as provided by the principal or the absent teacher, assign homework, and oversee attendance.

Essential Functions

Instructional Delivery:

• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the absent teacher to deliver engaging and effective instruction to students.
• Provide clear explanations, facilitate learning activities, and manage classroom dynamics to promote a productive learning environment.
• Adapt teaching strategies and materials as needed to meet the needs of diverse learners and ensure understanding of content.

Classroom Management:

• Establish and maintain classroom routines, rules, and procedures to promote a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Manage student behavior effectively through positive reinforcement, redirection, and appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
• Foster a respectful and inclusive classroom culture where all students feel valued and supported.

Assessment and Feedback:

• Administer and collect assignments, quizzes, or assessments as instructed by the absent teacher.
• Communicate any concerns or noteworthy incidents to the school administration or regular classroom teacher as appropriate.

Professionalism and Communication:

• Arrive punctually and prepared for assigned duties, following all school policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with school staff and administrators to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of instruction during the teacher's absence.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student and school information at all times.

Position Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting, preferably in a school environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of children.
