Description

Job Goal: Provide motivation and leadership necessary for development, implementation and evaluation of the local K-12 Comprehensive School Health Education Program.

Essential Job Functions:

1.Emphasize the importance of comprehensive school health education.

2.Assist in the development of K-12 health instruction.

3.Understand and interpret state laws developed by the State.

4. Help determine program needs keeping in mind the community needs and expectations.

5. Gain support for school health education within the school and community framework.

6. Act as a liaison between district administrators and teachers.

7. Provide information, review new resources and explore new teaching strategies for health education and communicate this to district staff.

8. Attend and participate in committees that have an impact on the health education of students.

9. Assist in the design of staff development workshops for administrators and teachers.

10. Assist in the development of parent communication letters regarding comprehensive school health education.

11. Work closely with the Human Growth and Development Advisory Committee as well as the Health Curriculum Committee.

12. Help with the identification, evaluation and selection of relevant resources to support the comprehensive school health education program.

13. Remain current and demonstrate an enthusiasm for Comprehensive School Health Education.

14. Speak and communicate effectively to various school and community group sizes.

If within the .2 time allows:

1. Help develop parent programs.

2. Provide a communication network with school and community (support services included)

3. Assist in the design and implement health promotion and wellness activities for the district.
