Purpose of the Position:Ensures all assigned personnel are paid timely and accurately, and that 401(k), tax funding, and all month end activities are done timely and accurately. Support the department with all areas of payroll. Back up the payroll coordinator as needed. Ensure data is current and accurate in the HRIS system and new hire data entry and collection. Ensure all tasks are completed with high attention to detail and confidentiality. Core Job Functions: Process the bi-weekly shoreside payrollAssist in processing semimonthly and daily seagoing payroll processProcess periodic payroll funding and reports for bi-weekly shoreside payroll including timely submission of 401k and HSAEnter W4’s direct deposits, 401(k), benefit elections, address changes, garnishments, and various other manual entries for all payrolls in the HRIS and payroll systemsReview, enter and track compliance related itemsComplete employee verifications, employee garnishment questionnaires, and unemployment inquiriesProcess employee benefit bill monthly using excelRespond to employee, union, and vendor inquiries in a timely mannerElectronically file payroll documents in employee foldersAssist the HR Analyst with benefits and other HR related tasks as neededRepresent OSG in a professional manner to provide efficient and economic service to all customersPerform all other duties assigned by supervisor or manageCore Competencies: Two years payroll experience requiredStrong computer skills, especially MS Excel, requiredStrong detail orientation and accuracy of work is requiredExperience with unions and Ceridian DayForce a plusSignificant Factors:Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization in a clear and concise mannerDeveloped organizational skills and ability to prioritizeExcellent customer service skillsExcellent interpersonal skills, ability to maintain a consistently positive, cheerful, helpful attitude and demeanorAbility to adapt well to changing priorities and situations without a loss of effectivenessAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to work in a small office with three other individualsProven ability to handle confidential information, personal integrity, excellent judgement and high ethical standardsConveys sense of enthusiasm for his/her role and contributionsStress tolerance related to time sensitive deadlines
