We are seeking highly motivated, friendly, outstanding customer service oriented orthodontic assistants to join our growing orthodontic office. No dental experience is necessary, however successful candidates have previous work experience or hobbies where they demonstrated being honest, trustworthy, detailed-oriented, enjoyed working with their hands, valuing punctuality, and thriving in a fast-paced environment. Candidates will need to complete the requirements to obtain their Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certificate from the Texas State Dental Board of Examiners within the first 90 days of employment. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
The initial offer is for part-time but full-time employment positions may be available after a successful 90-day introductory period. Applicants must be available to work at least three full-days per week (8:30 AM to 6:00 PM). No half-day or partial shifts are available. We try our best to assign assistants to the office closest to their home, but candidates must be willing to travel to our four clinics. We plan to open our Katy clinic by Summer 2024 so the initial training shifts will be in Cypress and Spring.
We are not a corporate dental chain; our practice is owned and operated by Dr. Zane K Haider DMD MS. All employees (part-time and full-time) who earn at least $5000 in their first year of employment are eligible to participate in our Schwab Simple IRA retirement plan where we match up to 3% of your salary. Part-time employees are not eligible for health insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay benefits that are reserved for full-time employees.
Duties include but are not limited to the following: taking extraoral and intraoral photographs; taking dental impressions; sterilization and packaging of orthodontic instruments; disinfecting equipment and operatories; maintaining inventory control of all lab equipment, supplies, instruments, and consumables; preparing clinicians’ chair-side set-ups; tying and untying patients; applying orthodontic appliances under the supervision of the orthodontist; pouring models; fabricating retainers; cleaning the lab and operatories, sweeping/mopping as needed; cleaning common areas and removing the trash; providing oral hygiene and home care instructions to patients and family members; interpreting and translating if bilingual; providing financial consultations; and adherence to all OSHA and HIPAA regulations. Administrative duties also include the following: answering phones and greeting patients/guests; obtaining, verifying, and scanning identity and insurance documents; checking-in and seating patients; providing an overview of what to expect during the consultation to patients and/or parents; and scheduling appointments.
