Facility: OrthoIndy Hospital Main, Indianapolis, IN 
Department: OIH Inpatient Services
Shift Details: Full-time nights (3-12's per week and 4 weekend night shifts during a 6 week schedule). The hours are 7:00 - 7:30 with no call and no consistent rotating weekend requirement and a great nurse to patient ratio! 

Minimum starting pay: $32.00

OrthoIndy main hospital, located on the northwest side of Indianapolis, includes a 42-bed inpatient unit and 10 operating rooms for patients undergoing more invasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip and knee joint replacement. Other services include outpatient surgery, an urgent care, clinics, pre-op clinic, imaging and physical therapy. We are ACR accredited and HFAP certified and participate in Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue Distinction program for knee and hip replacement and spine surgery.

General Statement of Duties

The Registered Nurse Inpatient is accountable for patient care consistent with established nursing practices and hospital policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse Inpatient assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates a plan of nursing care for patients commensurate with training and licensure. The Registered Nurse Inpatient collaborates with other members of the healthcare team, receives direction from physicians and other professional personnel, and supervises and delegates to non-licensed staff.

Essential Duties:

  1. Performs patient assessment and communicates pertinent patient information/data to appropriate care providers in a timely manner. Requires constant mental alertness to observe signs and symptoms of patient conditions and side effects of medications or technical procedures and responds appropriately to ensure optimal patient care.
  2. Delivers direct patient care. Completes treatments and procedures as ordered and/or indicated. Provides care related to personal hygiene, activities of daily living, and comfort measures as indicated. Prepares and administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  3. Documents all patient care activities in accordance with the standard of care as well as changes in the patient’s condition.
  4. Supports patient education and discharge planning. Distributes educational material as appropriate. Completes assigned tasks that facilitate discharge planning.
  5. Participates in annual and ongoing training, education and development activities to improve knowledge and skills. Requires knowledge of equipment and supplies.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred from a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse with the State of Indiana required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • 1-2 years of related experience preferred
