Orthopedic Assoc of Hartford P is Hiring a Human Resources Assistant Near Farmington, CT

Description

Established in 1970, Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, P.C. (OAH) is one of the area's largest and most respected orthopedic specialty groups. As OAH continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Human Resources Assistant to add to our HR department, providing support to our physicians, management, and staff, as they work to support our patients. 

The HR Assistant will provide assistance in the administration of all human resources policies and programs, participating in the administrative efforts necessary for maintaining the department’s efficiency and effectiveness, including benefits administration, recruiting, payroll support, and various operational duties essential for efficient workflow within the Human Resources Department. 

This full-time, onsite position will be based at our Business Office located in Farmington, CT.

Responsibilities of this position

  •  Provides stellar customer service support to internal and external customers with consistent follow-up and willingness to always go the extra mile to ensure satisfaction. 
  • Assists in the recruitment process, including posting open positions, both internally and externally, reviewing resumes, and scheduling interviews. May assist in interviewing.
  • Serves as a main point of contact for new hires. Onboards new hires in an organized and expedient manner, including background and reference checks, preparation of offer letter and new hire package, completion of required paperwork, credentialing, new hire orientation, and setup of compliance training, and badging.
  • Enters new hires into payroll and timekeeping system.
  • Keeps managers and training staff aware of the status of new hires moving through the onboarding process.
  • Prepares and logically presents reports, such as attendance tracking, pay rate comparisons, tenure, and others, as requested. 
  • Responds to frequently asked questions from applicants, employees, and managers relative to employee benefits, policies, and procedures. Refers complex issues to appropriate management.
  • Completes verification of employment and wage forms; prepares letters of verification as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining documents, confidential employee files, and records.
  • Processes employee status changes and terminations.
  • May attend job fairs with occasional events after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • Assists in planning and scheduling events and activities, such as benefits enrollment and employee recognition celebrations.
  • Maintains, updates, and distributes company telephone directory.
  • Creates and distributes monthly newsletter.
  • Provides hands-on support for all department related initiatives.
  • Exercises integrity and confidentiality, always.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy; ability to remain calm and in control, always. 
  • Demonstrate a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills; strong attention to detail, with comfort around numbers and spreadsheets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – effectively communicate with applicants, employees, and management staff, in a confident, clear, and timely manner.
  • Logical thinking skills – recognize the importance of timely communication and follow-up and understand when to elevate an issue and/or ask for guidance. 
  • Collaborative team player who has the ability to also work independently.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills; able to work well under pressure and follow directions and instructions.
  • Highly proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel; proficient with or ability to learn payroll management software and similar computer applications.

Experience

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of administrative experience within the human resources field, preferably in a medical office or hospital setting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • 1-3 years of experience with employee benefits, including insurance, paid sick leave, and FMLA.
  • Experience with recruiting process, interviewing, and onboarding.
