Orthopaedic Associates is Hiring a Medical Billing Account Specialist Near Evansville, IN

Orthopaedic Associates is a fast-paced, 12-physician orthopaedic practice with four locations in Evansville and Newburgh, IN and Henderson, KY. We are currently looking for a Medical Billing Account Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle Management department. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. We are closed on the six major holidays and employees are eligible for holiday pay and insurance after completing their first 60 days of employment. We also offer a lucrative PTO plan and 401k with a matching component. This position does allow for up to 80% remote work once training has been completed.
The Medical Billing Account Specialist is responsible for analyzing and auditing medical bills to ensure accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations. The Medical Billing Account Specialist will be assigned to review coding practices, identify billing errors, track billing trends, resolve discrepancies and reconcile accounts. The Medical Billing Account Specialist will collaborate with coding specialists, providers and insurance companies to address issues, optimize revenue cycles and improve billing processes.

  • Conduct eligibility and benefits verification
  • Examine medical EOBs for accuracy, collaborating with coding specialists for accuracy, ensuring proper coding of diagnoses and procedures
  • Detect and rectify billing errors, discrepancies or inconsistencies
  • Assist patients and co-workers regarding billing inquiries
  • Contribute to the improvement of revenue cycles by identifying areas for enhancement in billing processes and efficiency.
  • Analyze and track payment trends, identify patterns, and provide insight
  • Maintain patient confidentiality, compliance with company policies and procedures. Stay updated on healthcare regulations and compliance requirements to ensure accurate and lawful billing practices
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or GED certificate required
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university preferred
  • Medical billing experience preferred
  • Medical terminology experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills to maximize productivity
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook
  • Capability to multitask
  • Positive customer service oriented
