- Prepare, review, and submit clean claims.
- Available and able to answer account questions from insurance companies, patients, staff, and providers.
- Identify and resolve patient account billing concerns, requests, and complaints.
- Evaluate patient's financial status and monitor payment plans in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Investigate and review all outstanding A/R accounts to ensure prompt and proper payment.
- Perform various account collection activities.
- Receive, process, and post patient credit card payments.
- Prepare reports to identify and resolve claim and account issues.
- Monitor accounts for accurate billing information and correct accordingly.
- Prepare and monitor patient billing statements.
- Complete appropriate account adjustments with strict adherence to practice guidelines.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to email and telephone messages.
- Complete required monthly audits.
- Keep supervisor informed of all issues and concerns related to patient accounts.
- Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, red flag rules.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Special Skills, Licenses and Certifications.
- Excellent knowledge of health insurance plans and benefits.
- Good working knowledge of medical office functions.
- Good computer skills.
- Complete and maintain HCP training.
- Understand/Perform training on practice management software and EMR.
- High school diploma or equivalent and advanced knowledge of medical office functions.
- Excellent communication skills with accuracy and diplomacy in discussing financial matters with patients.
- Advanced knowledge of billing and coding regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of health insurance plans and benefits.
- Good computer skills.
- 1 year previous full revenue cycle experience in an orthopedic practice.
