Position Summary

Freight Analyst plays a crucial role in managing the transportation of goods and materials, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of products within an organization.

A Freight Analyst is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the movement of goods, ensuring that shipments are handled efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

This role involves working closely with carriers, logistics partners, and internal departments to meet transportation needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shipment Coordination : Plan, schedule, and coordinate the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Carrier and Vendor Management : Select and work with carriers, freight brokers, and transportation service providers. Uses preferred vendors and ensure they meet service standards and cost targets.
  • Documentation : Prepare, review, and manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs paperwork, and other required documentation.
  • Cost Control : Monitor and control transportation expenses, including freight rates, fuel costs, and other related expenses.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Ensure that all shipments comply with relevant regulations and standards, including safety, environmental, and customs requirements.
  • Shipment Tracking : Monitor and track shipments in real-time, providing updates to stakeholders and addressing any issues or delays.
  • Problem Resolution : Address transportation-related issues such as delays, damaged goods, and discrepancies, coordinating solutions to minimize disruptions.
  • Performance Metrics : Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of transportation operations.
  • Vendor Communication : Maintain effective communication with carriers, suppliers, and logistics partners to ensure a smooth transportation process.
  • Technology Utilization : Utilize transportation management software and other relevant technology tools to enhance visibility and streamline operations.

This includes Orora SAP WM and freight cost accounting.

Any additional assigned responsibilities as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, and / or 3 years of related experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in transportation management software and other relevant technology tools.
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in the transportation industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
