Job Summary:

Original X Productions is seeking an experienced and strategic legal professional to join our leadership team as the Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs. In this position, you will actively contribute to shaping our legal strategy, ensuring compliance aligned with the company's objectives and industry standards. As the VP, Business & Legal Affairs you will serve as a key strategic partner to the Executive Team, providing counsel on contracts, optimizing organizational efficiency, and overseeing all legal matters integral to our business.
*This a remote role and can be located anywhere in the United States

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Structure and draft all Company agreements, including but not limited to: License agreements, vendor agreements, international, insurance, sponsorship agreements, talent agreements, and operating agreements
• Support handling of Insurance renewals and ensure Company holds proper certificates for all locations
• Liaise with outside council on real estate, JV, and sublicence deals
• Manage intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and licensing agreements
• Support Human Resources on employment related matters including: employment agreements, terminations and severance agreements, and handbook revisions
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external legal counsel, ensuring alignment with the Company's objectives
• Stay abreast of legal developments in the industry, providing proactive advice on potential impacts and opportunities such as legal rights, and new and existing laws
• Liaise with and manage outside counsel when necessary.
• Provide strategic legal counsel to the executive team and contribute to key decisions impacting the company's growth and success
• Develop and implement legal policies, processes, and best practices
• Manage intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and licensing agreements
• Ensure the Company's activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.
• Implement effective risk management strategies and protocol

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate
• 10 years of experience as a practicing entertainment within the media or entertainment, additional knowledge in trademark and employment ideal
• Overall broad legal knowledge (entertainment transactions, intellectual property, corporate law, experiences, and location based entertainment)
• Experience with cost-effective management of outside legal resources
• Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team

The salary range for this role considers a range of variables used in making compensation decisions and may include but is not limited to; experience, training, licenses, certifications, skills sets, business needs, travel. Compensation decisions are dependent on the unique variables that are present, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $150,000-$200,000 This range has not been adjusted based on the geographic location of the successful incumbent.
