Position Responsibilities:

• Performs nursing activities in the pre- and post-operative and post-anesthesia phases of the patient's surgical experience
• Admits and prepares patients for surgery
• Provides ongoing information to the patient and their caregiver to ensure that they understand and feel as comfortable as possible
• Receives patient in the recovery room after surgery; assesses and evaluates the patient; monitors the patient continuously throughout the recovery phase
• Provides discharge instructions to the patient and their caregiver
• Exercises safe judgment in decision-making and demonstrates tact and understanding when dealing with patients, team members, members of other disciplines, and the public
• Assists in patient education during all phases of their experience at QCASC
• Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA rules and regulations

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Current unrestricted Illinois RN licensure is required
• 2 years of nursing experience is preferred
• Previous ASC and/or surgical care experience is preferred
• Must be flexible with hours
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
