Title:

Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist - Patient Services & Clinical Support Optimize U

Job Summary:

We are seeking a personable and skilled Medical Assistant to provide excellent patient services and clinical support in our health and wellness clinic. The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in welcoming patients, managing appointments, performing clinical tasks, and ensuring a positive patient experience. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

Patient Services:

  • Greet patients with a warm and friendly demeanor, creating a welcoming environment.
  • Assist patients in scheduling appointments, ensuring appointments are efficiently managed and scheduled appropriately.
  • Manage patient inquiries, address questions, and provide information about clinic services.

Clinical Support:

  • Perform venipuncture and draw blood for laboratory testing, following proper protocols and infection control measures after receiving appropriate training.
  • Take accurate patient vitals, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation.
  • Instruct patients on the proper use of exercise recovery services and equipment.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Answer incoming phone calls, address patient inquiries, and provide necessary information.
  • Process payments, set up recurring billing, and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Complete patient intake forms, update medical records, and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Assist with managing patient records, appointment schedules, and electronic health records (EHR).

Patient Education:

  • Provide patients with clear instructions for using exercise recovery equipment and services.
  • Offer guidance on medication administration, and routine medical instructions.
  • Ensure that patients have a clear understanding of their treatment plans and follow-up instructions.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with clinic staff, including physicians, nurses, and administrative personnel, to ensure coordinated patient care and smooth clinic operations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and valued throughout their clinic visits.

Infection Control and Safety:

  • Adhere to infection control protocols, maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.
  • Follow safety guidelines when handling medical equipment, disposing of sharps, and handling hazardous materials.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
  • Relevant certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is a plus.
  • Experience in a healthcare or clinical setting, preferably in a medical assistant role.
  • Proficiency in taking vitals, conducting blood draws, and assisting with basic medical procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a patient-centered approach.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage appointments, patient records, and administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical documentation.
  • Customer service orientation with a friendly and empathetic attitude toward patients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Efficient appointment scheduling and management, minimizing wait times and scheduling conflicts.
  • Accurate and error-free performance of clinical tasks, including blood draws and vital sign measurements.

  • Timely and accurate processing of payments and financial transactions.
  • Maintenance of organized patient records, accurate documentation, and confidentiality.
