Summary
Opterra Solutions is looking to hire a Business Development Representative for our Product Sales division that can bring our lineup of Turf, IVM, Forestry, Aquatic, Agricultural, and Pest Control products to new markets and clients in the Jacksonville, FL area. This role will serve as the front-runner in identifying potential clients, understanding their needs, and showing them how our products like herbicides, insecticides, and top-of-the-line spray equipment can meet their needs as well as overcome their challenges. Your days will be a mix of research, reaching out to new contacts, and nurturing existing relationships. You will have a key part in crafting and delivering compelling product recommendations that resonate with our customers as well as submitting professionally worded quotes and proposals. You will also play an integral role in brokering bulk deals for new and existing customers in ways that help maximize their business’s profitability. You will collaborate with our sales and marketing teams to brainstorm and execute strategies for expanding our reach.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate or bachelor’s degree, or 5 years in-the-field experience in relevant program preferred (Horticulture, Agronomy, Crop Production, Turf Management, etc.).
Valid driver’s license is required.
Previous work-related skills, knowledge, and experience related to herbicides, insecticides, fertilizers, and spray equipment strongly preferred in addition to experience with route-based selling.
Requirements
Must have the ability to sit, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 5-10 hours a day.
Must have the ability to infrequently lift, push, pull, or move 50 lbs or more.
Must have a clean driving record.
Must have the ability to travel 50-75% by vehicle, with periodic overnight travel throughout territory.
Must have the ability to communicate professionally and effectively via verbal, written, and digital methods. Strong typing skills are preferred.
Must have the ability to collect, track, organize, and analyze various amounts of data.
Must be willing and able to use required personal protective equipment (PPE) when periodically evaluating or consulting on customer sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Use a variety of sales and marketing techniques including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, cold calling, emails, conferences, and industry events.
Communicate consultatively with new and existing clients to understand their needs, recommend products, and convey the value proposition of buying from you.
Collaborate with supervisor, procurement, and warehouse staff to facilitate order fulfillment.
Keep accurate and detailed records within our CRM/ERP system (NetSuite).
Prepare proposals and sales orders within our ERP system.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures including conforming to all OSHA standards and properly using personal protective equipment (PPE).
Recognize and report any hazardous conditions, behaviors, or equipment.
Meet monthly/quarterly/annual goals.
Operate company-owned vehicles and/or machinery safely.
Confer with supervisors to make quality sales decisions.
Participate in company and team meetings, training events, and state licensure programs.
Perform various other sales-focused duties as assigned.
