A-TEK is currently recruiting for Bioinformatics Analystto support our work with the National Library of Medicine (NLM). This critical team member will participate in NCBI’s ongoing mission to use data to help cure some of the world's most serious health problems. Your work will make a difference!
Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
·Provide high level expertise in the application of technology to areas of interest to government health organizations including Medical Informatics or Public Health Informatics, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics
·Provide sound quantitative data and methods to support resources for the genomics research community
·Provide expertise across a wide variety of IT areas as applied to public health, including information retrieval technology, decision science, web technology, data mining, expert systems, networking, public health science, and education
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, biostatistics, data sciences or a closely related field or equivalent experience.
·Minimum of 10 years' experience providing data analysis in a research, medical or scientific environment.
·Proficient with R or python, and experience in the Unix/Linux environments.
·Proficiency in creating, modifying, and maintaining Unix scripts (shell/perl/python) to perform database management and analysis in parallel.
·Familiarity with bioinformatics software packages, such as STAR, BWA, DESEQ2, Bioconductor, GSEA, samtools, etc.
·Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment
·Ability to obtain or maintain a Public Trust level clearance
