General Mechanical Corporation (GMC) has an immediate opening for a Project Manager in Mayport (Jacksonville, FL).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Include the coordination and completion of projects on time, within budget, within scope, and without safety incidents. Oversee all aspects of projects. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize progress reports of projects.
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Develop a detailed project plan/schedule to include cost loading and schedule of values to monitor and track progress.
  • Prepare reports for upper management regarding the status of each project.
  • Processing change orders, collaboration with the architect and design team as well as the construction crews to ensure feasibility of each project, conduct meetings on site with the architect and design engineer, negotiate with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors, prepare and submit project estimates to clients, must be able to understand risk management policies and procedures, must also manage budgets and poses a strong knowledge of construction materials, means and methods and equipment. Salary commencing with experience, health insurance and other benefits.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project.
  • Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels.
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members.
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills.
  • Attending conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A qualified person must be able to read plans and specifications and work with the client from the start of each project, so they understand the project scope and vision. The candidate must be able to create a project schedule and work with a P6 Scheduling expert to effectively cost load schedules for each project and match the talent to the job.
  • Proven working experience in project management.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of the project management process from project start-up to project closeout.
  • 10 years of related project management experience working on federal government construction projects consisting of design-bid-build and/or design-build projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) / (CCM) certification is a plus.
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction related field is a plus.
  • Successful past performance managing projects in the $1M to $30M range.

Compensation Range:

  • $100,000-$145,000
