Position Summary:

The Associate Director position assumes shift responsibilities for the overall assessment, planning and evaluation of patient care on the clinical units and medical center. Supports the hospital and nursing service mission, vision, values and the overall strategic planning, clinical management, patient care, financial management to achieve quality outcomes. Promotes the health system service standards and creates a patient focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of the patient. Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses and other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities:

• Supports and monitors the shift personnel, monitors supply and equipment budgets in collaboration with the nursing leadership.
• Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to positive health teaching and maintenance.
• Exercises critical thinking to ensure an effective plan for delivery of nursing care within the assigned area of responsibility.
• Efficiently and effectively responds to patient and family concerns or complaints with sensitivity and compassion in a timely fashion.
• Review shift provision of support services essential to patient care.
• Collaborates with the CNO/Nursing Leadership to support nursing care standards and evaluates staff compliance.
• Follows up on shift corrective action plans to ensure that quality of care is embedded into clinical practice on an ongoing basis.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Education:

• Master's degree in nursing is required.

Experience:

• Minimum three (3) years nursing experience including nursing leadership experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, required.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
• Excellent creative skills, ideas to improve existing programs.
• Ability to critically think from an organizational perspective..
