Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Accounting, our Senior Accountant is an integral component of the Accounting team. Responsible for the compilation and analysis of accounting/financial information for Oncourse Home Solutions and the maintenance of complete and accurate general ledger. Provides reporting support and other services to the Financial Planning and Analysis, Tax and External Audit teams. Monitor the operation of core activities to ensure key business risks are being managed appropriately and an effective internal control environment is achieved. Increase awareness of internal controls and recommend enhancements to business processes and internal controls.
Located at our office in Naperville, IL. our office environment is a key driver of our company culture and employee experience, so a regular in-office hybrid model (generally T-TH in office and M & F remote) is required.
Responsibilities
- Prepares journal entries and assists in the facilitation of the monthly close process.
- Analyzes financial results and variances, ensuring completeness and accuracy of the general ledger.
- Performs key account analyses and reconciliations, including the timely investigation and resolution of discrepancies and reconciling items.
- Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and state reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
- Participates in the annual audits and coordination with the external auditors.
- Interfaces/liaises with the Financial Planning and Analysis, Cash/Treasury, Accounts Payable, Tax and other back-office support providing information for accounting and reporting matters and assistance in interpreting and analyzing financial results.
- Assists with special projects and initiatives to optimize the effectiveness of existing business applications, technologies, and systems and to build efficiencies/improvements into current business processes.
- Assists in the refinement and maintenance of the accounting/financial policies, practices, internal controls, and operating procedures to ensure the integrity of the Company’s internal control structure.
- Develop strong relationships with process owners and act as a subject matter expert in the design and implementation of controls.

Experience and Qualifications of the Role
- 3 years of Public Accounting or 5 years Corporate Accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of auditing and internal controls.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply principles and practices to accounting matters.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word), with a particular expertise in advanced Microsoft Excel functionalities (i.e., pivot tables, VLOOKUP's, SUMIFs, etc.) a strong preference.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with proven ability to interact effectively with internal customers, management, and external professionals (i.e., auditors).
- Excellent analytical, systemic, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work in teams or effectively work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on initiative, knowledge sharing, team building and decision making
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Required, Advanced Degree Preferred
Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, advanced Excel, i.e. pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, SUMIFs, etc.) a strong preference.
- Knowledge and prior experience working with Oracle EBS a plus.
