About the Role
The Company is seeking a Director of Engineering to provide technical leadership and guidance to a diverse engineering team responsible for building SaaS capabilities in the Business License and Tax product integrated into the platform. The successful candidate will be highly technical, with a focus on both architectural decisions and strategic thinking, and will be expected to lead by example, mentoring and coaching team members to foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment. This role involves leading the team in architecting product capabilities, solving technical challenges, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet customer needs. The Director of Engineering will also be responsible for the overall product architecture, scalability, and driving requirements for the platform team to make the platform more general purpose.Applicants for this role should have a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in PHP, React, and Node environments, as well as a solid background in commercial, B2B SaaS software development. Experience with RDBMS, REST-based APIs, and deploying services to commercial cloud environments, primarily AWS, is essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading a team of 10 or more developers, be proficient in agile development methodologies, and have excellent problem-solving skills. A collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams and the ability to make and explain trade-off decisions to deliver customer value are also key qualifications. Experience with government solutions and CI/CD tooling, as well as a disciplined approach to delivery and team practices, are highly desirable.
