JOB DESCRIPTION:
Old Trail School is seeking a passionate and collaborative individual to support our Primary School team
in the safety and supervision of children, interacting with children in caring and individualized ways,
implementing strategies to support the social/emotional well-being of children, and differentiating
within the classroom during learning and play. Our ideal candidate will value both play-based curriculum
and academic opportunities, enjoy working with children ages 2-8, have a strong understanding of this
developmental stage, and have an understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach to education. It is the
expectation that the candidate will ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their
physical, social-emotional, and educational needs in alignment with the school’s philosophies. This
individual will collaborate with the lead teachers to create enriching environments that nurture students
and stimulate their developmental growth. The candidate will be expected to be a role model for the
School’s core values: Respect, Responsibility, Goodness, and Service.
Applicants should have at least 1-2 years of experience working with children (teaching, childcare,
camps, outdoor centers, etc.) and an interest in education. They should have awareness a professional
knowledge of early literacy and math, Conscious Discipline, and child development. Most importantly,
applicants should have a love of working with children, in a collaborative, upbeat, and positive
