POSITION: PART-TIME PRIMARY SCHOOL SUPPORT/AFTERCARE

SESSION COMPENSATION: COMPETITIVE WITH AREA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Old Trail School is seeking a passionate and collaborative individual to support our Primary School team
in the safety and supervision of children, interacting with children in caring and individualized ways,
implementing strategies to support the social/emotional well-being of children, and differentiating
within the classroom during learning and play. The Primary school support position hours are from
11am-3pm. Our ideal candidate will value both play-based curriculum and academic opportunities,
enjoy working with children ages 2-8, have a strong understanding of this developmental stage, and
have an understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach to education. It is the expectation that the
candidate will ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their physical, social-
emotional, and educational needs in alignment with the school’s philosophies. This individual will
collaborate with the lead teachers to create enriching environments that nurture students and stimulate
their developmental growth. The candidate will be expected to be a role model for the School’s core
values: Respect, Responsibility, Goodness, and Service.

From 3-6pm, This position will transition into our After-School program. We are seeking a candidate
with the qualifications listed below to be able to provide a nurturing and safe environment for our
students to spend their after-school time. Responsibilities include supervision of students after the
school day during indoor or outdoor free play, arts-n-crafts, games, activities, and homework help.

Applicants should have at least 1-2 years of experience working with children (teaching, childcare,
camps, outdoor centers, etc.) and an interest in education. They should have awareness a professional

knowledge of early literacy and math, Conscious Discipline, and child development. Most importantly,
applicants should have a love of working with children, in a collaborative, upbeat, and positive
environment.
