Oklahoma State University is Hiring a Scholarship Specialist Near Stillwater, OK

Job Summary:
The Scholarship Specialist position will serve as the campus expert on all institutional and external tuition waiver and scholarship awards and is directly responsible for processing internal and external tuition waivers and scholarships such as Tribal, Oklahoma’s Promise, OSU-OKC Foundation scholarships, and the Oklahoma State Regents. The selected candidate will work closely with the state regents, private agencies, high schools, tribal agencies, OSU-OKC Foundation, Business Services, Division Heads, and serve as Co-Chair for the Scholarship Committee.
This position will also serve as a backup for Financial Aid Specialists during absences and lunch periods.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serves as the initial contact for students/parents with scholarship questions.
  • Serves as Co-Chair of the OSU-OKC Scholarship Committee.
  • Processes applications and forms necessary for receipt of scholarship funding.
  • Responsible for reconciling funds received for tribal, state, and private sources. Reconciliation may be on an individual or fund basis.
  • Works with academic divisions to process institutional aid offers.
  • Updates or establishes new procedures used in daily job requirements to ensure compliance with changes in federal, state, and institutional policies.
  • Develop/maintain a working knowledge of federal aid guidelines governing coordination of student resources with federal aid.
  • Will participate in seminars or public relations events relative to Scholarships.
  • Will serve as back up to the Customer Service Area as needed.
  • Completes all mandatory training and participated in a minimum of two professional development each year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience:

Prefer Applicant with a minimum of two years’ experience in post-secondary Financial Aid administration with an emphasis on Scholarship processing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal guidelines governing the coordination of institutional, state, or private aid in conjunction with federal aid.
  • Demonstrates abilities to identify and resolve over awards resulting from the addition of private, state, or institutional scholarships to student aid packages.
  • A high degree of integrity; ability to work in a sensitive, highly confidential, and professional environment.
  • Adapts to performing under moderate stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, and public/student contact.
  • Proven accurate typing and data entry skills and demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work and communicate effectively with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
  • High degree of initiative to work independently and also collaborate in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to: office computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exhibits problem-solving skills beyond a set of instructions and adapts to changes when necessary.
  • Able to make appropriate recommendations based on logical and justifiable reasoning.
  • Uses analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret written policies and procedures.
  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include some nights and weekends.
  • Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms.

Physical Requirements:

  • During peak enrollment and processing periods, handle a high volume of phone calls and student inquiries.
  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking and listening.
  • Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone and other office equipment.
  • Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
