Senior Project Manager

Our Research & Development team works on various projects from breeding to cultivar development to fundamental product research and is composed of varying team members such as expert growers, plant scientists, and project teams. 

We are hiring a Senior Project Manager for our R&D team who will partner to tackle the most complex problems in farming and plant science, ranging from scaling up strawberry production to selecting new cultivars. You will engage senior stakeholders to define project objectives/scope and work closely with researchers/farmers to design and execute experiments. You will be driving projects that are critical to achieving our mission of growing the best produce in the world and revolutionizing agriculture. You must be able to think strategically and execute tactically, with the strong desire to not just oversee data and structure, but verify the details inside of farm and research facilities.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Develop detailed project plans and ensure implementation through proper coordination and communication with relevant stakeholders (different functions, executives, project managers, etc.)
• Facilitate cross-functional workshops or discussions with the ability to structure and synthesize complex topics/project findings in real time, as well as agree & plan next steps. 
• Including analyzing quantitative/qualitative data with researchers/farmers. 
• Identify critical bottlenecks with projects and solve them quickly and efficiently in respect to timelines, 
• Own the execution of projects which may include vendor selection, production pilots, and change management. 
• Collaborate and influence with stakeholders across the organization, including plant science, farm operations, engineering, and management
• Train, mentor, and advise researchers, contributing to the development of an industry leading research organization.
• Dive in tactically to assist research projects, when needed.

What we look for in a Senior Project Manager:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; advanced degree is a plus!
• 8 years of experience in a similar project management role ideally in a fast-paced environment; startup or management consulting experience preferred. 
• Experience managing projects in a science back R&D environment.
• Experience in managing budgets and meeting timelines.
• Solid computer literacy and familiarity with communication tools such as Google suite, Microsoft Office suite, Slack, Asana, etc.
• PMP certification or training is a plus!
• Proficiency in English is required and proficiency inJapanese is a plus. 

Shift & Schedule: 

• This is an onsite role based in Jersey City, NJ. The role requires travel to farm facilities at multiple locations. (Currently we have facilities in Kearny, Jersey City and Philipsburg, NJ)
• While most work will be Monday through Friday during normal business hours, due to the continuously operating nature of plants and facilities, you must be willing to engage occasionally on nights and weekends.
