Description

OCH Technologies is hiring a Database Administrator for a position supporting the FAA. The Database Administrator will provide database administration support including database architecture design and implementation, patch management, upgrades, troubleshooting and problem remediation. Databases include Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server. Responsible for implementation and maintenance of DR and high availability solutions. Candidate must have 3 years of experience in IT and database management.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

• Knowledge of emerging technology and ability to make recommendation for changes and improvements in architecture and technologies
• Day-to-day operational support to administer and maintain operation databases 
• Installation, configuration, patching and upgrading of database server software and related products
• Establishing and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures 
• Implementing and maintaining database security
• Performing database tuning, performance monitoring and troubleshooting database errors
• Setting up and maintaining documentation and standards
• Planning growth and changes (capacity planning)
• Creating and maintaining SQL and PL/SQL queries and shell scripts
• Finding and debugging malfunctioning programs affecting database integrity 
• Setting and maintaining database standards
• Managing database access
• Recommending and implementing emerging database technologies
• Creating and managing database reports
• Be available for on-call support as needed
• Evaluating new database features and making recommendations
• Sharing knowledge and mentoring other DBAs, as needed
• Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required 
• Suggesting improvements to database capacity, performance, and scalability

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Science

Experience

• 3 years of IT experience.
• Experience with database configuration management procedures, technical and design documentation management and updates, and production system monitoring and maintenance
• Experience with disaster recovery and high availability design and implementation of various database types including Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and PostgreSQL
• Experiences supporting SOA components, JBOSS workflows, Oracle, Sun, Tomcat, and other applications in regard to their connectivity and workflow with relational databases
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving critical issues and DR switchover procedures
• Experience with annual Authorization to Operate and system testing procedures to support SCAP processes
• Experience implementing database security, database backups, database tuning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, performance and scalability recommendations, maintaining access
• Experience in Linux operating system commands, tablespace management, user management, process management, and shell scripting

Candidate must have the ability to hold and maintain a Public Trust

Other Required Skills and Abilities

• Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook
