Occupational Training Center is Hiring an Employment Specialist Near Burlington, NJ

  • Develop a vocational plan that meets the needs of the individual with a disability and identify any challenges to competitive employment.
  • Work a flexible, changing schedule to be able to meet with all assigned individuals in their work environment as needed to oversee their progress and performance and adhere to their required/allotted hours each week/month. Schedule will vary on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide counseling and support as needed to overcome vocational challenges to assist the individual with maintaining employment.
  • Monitor and communicate progress to guardians and governing agencies. Report circumstances to DVRS, DDD and Support Coordination when an increase or reduction in Supported Employment hours are needed.
  • Maintain and update the individual’s file by documenting progress, production, behavior incidents and vocational skills. Complete reports/statistics using the OTC’s EHR system and other forms of documentation as required by DDD, DVRS, Medicaid and other internal and external policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Develop competitive job opportunities for the individual with disabilities. Seek employment opportunities with local companies; identify job adaptations needed and assist the employer with identifying reasonable accommodations.
  • Schedule, assist with preparation and attend interviews with the individual as needed. Provide training for transportation or incidentals if necessary (i.e., union membership, purchase of uniforms, scheduling orientation, etc.).
  • Identify any additional services or supports the individual may need and make referrals to other programs/services/counseling as needed.
  • Assist individuals in developing job searching skills. Provide job coaching and follow-up services.
  • Meet with employers and facilitate open dialog between the individual and employer to discuss job performance and identify areas in need of improvement to maximize performance.
  • In conjunction with the Coordinator of Vocational Services, work with DVRS and DDD to increase the OTC’s Supportive Employment Program by encouraging referrals to the program, reviewing backgrounds and skill levels of potential new clients and working with employers to search for new job opportunities that are in line with the individual’s skills, interests and abilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
