WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are searching for a highly professional applicant who possesses strong verbal, writing and organizational abilities to join our law firm as an estate planning attorney. You will create wills, trusts, powers of attorney for our clients, educate them on matters of asset protection and tax planning, and guide survivors through the administration process after death. This role carries a great deal of responsibility and seeks to eliminate questions regarding how an estate should be managed or prepared. Our ideal candidate will have significant estate knowledge and be a licensed Virginia attorney.

ESTATE PLANNING ATTORNEY- RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with clients, family members, and professional advisors to work toward establishing an estate plan that is tailor-made to each client's individual circumstances.
  • Communicate with clients about possible options for disbursing their assets at death.
  • Educate clients about options for structuring their estates to ensure the maximum amount of assets and tax protection.
  • Draft revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and other documents as necessary and appropriate for clients.
  • Work closely with paralegals and other team members to provide each client with the very best experience.
  • Promptly respond to all client inquiries and ensure work is completed in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Guide clients and family members through the process of administering an estate or trust through incapacity and after death.
  • Provide clients with information about retirement plans, charitable contributions and life insurance policies.
  • Manage client relationships.
  • Engage in Business Development and Community Engagement.
  • Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date.

ESTATE PLANNING ATTORNEY- QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Virginia Law license is required.
  • Admitted to Virginia Bar
  • Experience with long-term care and special needs planning.
  • Experience working at a law firm on estate planning and probate matters for at least 5 years.
  • Working knowledge of wills, trusts, and property law.
  • Basic understanding of retirement asset planning and estate and gift tax laws.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Oast & Taylor offers a highly competitive salary and a suite of holistic benefits designed to help our team members balance their personal and professional life commitments.

  • $70,000- $85,000 per year with Bonus potential
