ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads clinical functions and staff members; assumes responsibility for continuity, quality, and safety ofservice delivered in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Drives, supports and models an “One Oakwood” culture focused on employee engagement, safety, fiscal responsibility and a person-centered approach and environment.
  • Inspires, influences and leads change across acute care areas. Proven experience developing and implementing a continuous improvement culture.
  • Owns the management and oversight of census numbers.
  • Serves as a key and active member of the Senior Clinical Operational team, ensuring business objective are aligned and that the department is performing to operational objectives.
  • Assumes leadership of the clinical department. Leads, directs and evaluates efficiency and professional practices of nursing, intake and agency staff members.
  • Manges the constantly evolving dynamics of the health care industry and adjusts and necessary.
  • Owns the Compliance and QAPI program assuring regulatory compliance and makes appropriate corrective actions and measures are executed when deficiencies are identified.
  • Develops and executes quality assurance and process improvement strategies for new process development and sustaining clinical operational activities.
  • Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payers, through education, coaching and other assistance as necessary.
  • Creates a strategic plan for the nursing function and workforce in collaboration with stakeholders for Oakwood Village.
  • Oversees infection control and universal precautions in coordinating/performing patience care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease. Ensures adequate orientation and staff development needs are met through collaboration with Oakwood Village's clinical education programming.
  • Collaborates with Sales and Marketing Staff members to promote and grow Oakwood Preferred Services in the community and across Oakwood Village’s campuses, to build census and grow Oakwood Preferred Services in line with our performance goals.
  • Reviews and Analyzes Oakwood Preferred Services and provides data to aid in planning risk management and to improve services.
  • Provides the strategic framework, oversight, reviews and clinical operational flexibility to ensure the on time and on budget delivery of clinical programs. Delivers operationalization of clinical systems with quality and integrity of the data evident in critical success factors. 
  • Maintains work plans and annual goals with quarterly results reporting systems that demonstrate performance improvement trends.
  • Partners with Human Resources to determine appropriate staffing models to be able to recruit/hire and orientate qualified staff members.
  • Involved in the selection and development of effective leaders including mentoring for for direct reports.
  • Works with CFO to develop clinical budget for year and tracks progress throughout the year. Provides input and strategic direction into planning and processes for determining timelines and budgets for clinical programs that are executed per the commitments to the organization.
  • Maintains awareness of advances in nursing, government regulations including the development, revision, and implementation of department policies and procedures as required.
  • Monitors the use of diagnostic services and other care services (i.e. pharmacy) to ensures effective use of resources and assesses the needs for additional staff members, equipment, and services.
  • Coordinates with other department clinical directors in developing, enhancing and maintaining computerized record management systems to store/process data such staff member activities, information and produces reports as appropriate.
  • Implements Oakwood Preferred Services objectives and evaluative or operational criteria.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Highly proficient ability in assessing and providing accurate care planning and review, of a diverse range of hospice and palliative care cases.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building internal relationships with key campus stakeholders (social services, nursing, administration, health and wellness, etc.) to facilitate admissions, discharges, and integrated services among campus residents, while on caseload.
  • Proven experience developing a continuous improvement culture.
  • Strong survey/accreditation history of maximum, ongoing compliance. Experience with ACHC preferred.
  • Proven history of ability to recruit clinical staff and to maintain staff -limited turnover with high productivity.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A master of building consensus.
  • Conveys excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with people from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and temperaments.
  • Uses discretion concerning sensitive information and adheres to HIPAA.
  • Carries out designated tasks including reporting outcome of actions taken.
  • Meaningful, effective customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
  • Manages their time well, able to prioritize as needed.
  • An eye for attention to detail.
  • Presents comfortably in front of professional groups.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING

  • Registered Nurse graduate of accredited school of nursing, Master of Science preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years experience in nursing, with at least 5 director of nursing leadership experience required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of operational management experience in Long Term Care required.
  • Experience leading clinical care teams, including group facilitation, leadership development, team building, performance management, and drive cultural and change management.
  • Wisconsin license, unrestricted and current as a registered nurse.
  • Knowledge of and experience of relevant industry software.
  • Proficient and experience in using Microsoft 365 including Teams.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must successfully pass employment background screening, drug screen and professional references.
  • Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work parameters.
  • Primarily works inside with frequent sitting, walking, standing bending and occasional lifting of supplies not in excess of 25 pounds.
  • Must understand and accept the possibility of exposure to environmental elements, such as inclement weather, dust, noise, chemicals and/or chemicals fumes, and infectious disease.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
