Overview

This position provides accounting support to the Finance Department by managing the month end close process, assist in managing deposits and cash reporting, overseeing invoicing and the accounts receivable process, managing payroll, account reconciliations and supporting the completion of other miscellaneous Finance Department tasks/projects as they arise.

This role will pay a salary of $55,000 to $60,000.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly close process including preparation and review of closing adjusting journal entries for completeness of monthly accounting activity.
  • Perform analysis of budget to actual variances.
  • Complete account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Manage the various monthly internal and external financial reporting process.
  • Review, generate and post invoices to the accounts receivable system.
  • Monitor and communicate with customers on outstanding A/R.
  • Assist in the weekly preparation of food & beverage sales reporting.
  • Work with sales team to ensure complete documentation for event contracts and advance deposit collection.
  • Prepare cash deposits and apply payments in the general ledger.
  • Coordinate information for processing bi-weekly payroll through corporate payroll system.
  • Monitor cash and prepare daily cash-flow report.
  • Periodic reconciliation of advance deposits.
  • Work with other department staff to ensure timely processing of their monthly close items.
  • Supervision of 1 to 2 finance staff members.
  • Support for accounts payable as a backup for transactional processing.
  • Other miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned by the Finance Department staff.

Qualifications

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Strong accounting skills;
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • Must be very computer literate with the ability to learn and quickly master new applications;
  • Strong organizational skills and high degree of detail orientation;
  • Prefer experience with Ungerboeck Systems or Sage software and/or experience in event services industry;
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 4-year degree in Accounting or equivalent;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of office experience in an accounting capacity;
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with spreadsheets, entering and manipulating data.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Daily sitting, focusing on and operating a personal computer or terminal keyboard to enter data
  • Ability to access information in print and on computer/terminal monitor
  • Communicate by telephone and/or radio for up to 30 minutes at a time on a daily basis.
  • Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to use a 10-key calculator, PC, printer, fax, photocopier, telephone, credit card terminal and general office equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

  • This position is located in an office environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse working conditions.

HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Typically 40 hours per week; some overtime may be required on an occasional evening and/or weekend based on schedule of events.
