Oak View Group is Hiring a Painter|Part-time| Donald L Tucker Civic Center Near Tallahassee, FL

Overview

Title: Part-Time Painter

Location: Donald L Tucker Civic Center

Reports to: Director of Operations

Status: Part-Time; Hourly; Non-Exempt

This role will pay an hourly wage of $25 to $30.00. 

For PT roles: Benefits: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching.

Responsibilities

  • Performs painting of various materials such as drywall, metals, wood, plastics, and concrete.
  • Responsible for upkeep of all coatings for visible and non-visible finishes such as paint, varnish, epoxy, urethanes, etc.
  • Performs coating work using any accepted methods of the trade; apply coating techniques that ensure surfaces have smooth-textured and decorative appearance.
  • Determines methods, techniques, devices, and materials that are best suited to the surface finish required.
  • Applies coating materials with any of the accepted trade devices, for example - brushes, rollers, airless spray guns, and pressurized cans.
  • Performs taping and mudding of joints created by dry wall construction.
  • Performs plastering and texturing.
  • Applies wall covers needed within the scope of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Performs necessary housekeeping to prepare areas assigned.
  • Maintains adequate supply of tools and materials necessary to accomplish routine and recurring assignments.
  • Performs necessary cleaning and maintenance on tools of the trade to ensure that they are maintained in a condition to facilitate immediate use.
  • Responsible for planning the materials, tools, and techniques needed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow instruction and direction.
  • Experience in commercial painting.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements.
  • Required to work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule based on events, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Displaying a professional and highly motivated demeanor.
  • Ability to perform duties in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Intellectual/Social Demands:

  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc.; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Additionally, the employee frequently lifts and moves facility equipment, supplies and/or tools. Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events; position will require employee to frequently bend, stoop, or crouch in order to set-up, tear down or clean in various areas of the building and grounds. Employee will as needed operate various machines in cleaning and maintenance of building; employee will constantly communicate via radio and in-person with staff to exchange accurate information. Employee may frequently be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
