Overview

The Livestock and Equine coordinator will provide professional client services and support in the planning, organization and management of all livestock and equine related events within Domer Livestock Arena, stall barn, warm up arena and Landon Arena. This position will monitor the logistics of these events, including contracting, maintaining of good equine footing for all events, event coordination and tasks associated to pre and post events. This position will be on site for all equine and livestock related events to support and communicate with event producers, promoters and event/operations staff.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $19.23 phr to $21.63 phr.

About the Venue

This position is based at our Stormont Vail Events Center. The 80-acre site in the center of Topeka now known as the Stormont Vail Events Center has a long history of use for activities related to agriculture, farming, exhibitions, education and entertainment. Stormont Vail Events Center is a 10,000-seat multi-purpose arena built in 1987 in Topeka, Kansas. Landon Arena, named for Kansas' elder statesman, governor Alfred M. Responsibilities

  • Research and contract new equine and livestock events into Domer Livestock Arena
  • Coordinate and supervise event conversions, change overs, and all other operational duties for pre and post event operations for Domer Arena
  • Meet with client groups to plan and organize meetings and facility walkthroughs for event contracting and serve as the primary point of contact for groups, event producers, promoters for events inside Domer Livestock Arena
  • Work with local, regional and national equine organizations to stay up to date on needs of OVG’s operation of the Domer Livestock Arena
  • Manage the open booking dates in OVG's provided booking software to make sure clients are aware of deadlines, schedules and contract obligations
  • Prepare staffing cost breakdowns for events and estimates to contract the facility at appropriate levels
  • Communicate Domer Livestock Arena event information to all other department personnel with OVG at Stormont Vail Events Center in weekly staff and event meetings
  • Oversee training, scheduling and managing of changeover staff
  • Manage event and operations support staff during events
  • Assist Director of Events & Director of Operations with event staff scheduling of necessary event and operations related personnel
  • Oversee the daily maintenance of Domer Livestock Arena
  • Organize all storage rooms to be in neat and working order
  • Maintain all event equipment (Tractors, Steel/Iron, Stalls, Chutes, Gates, Seating etc)
  • Oversee opening or closing of facility for a move-in or move-out
  • Assist Director of Operations in the purchasing of event equipment
  • Assist Director of Operations in the scheduling and approval of payroll through scheduling payroll management program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, facility management, or other related field
  • Direct experience of 3 years or more in equine and livestock operations is required
  • Experience with direct employee supervision
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with ability to function in a multi-task environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are vital
  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours as required, including but not limited to nights, weekends and holidays
  • Forklift and aerial lift certifications are preferred
