JOB TITLE: BACK LOT SECURITY

Location: Donald L. Tucker Civic Center at Florida State University – Tallahassee, FL

Reports To: Director of Events and Event Coordinator

FLSA Status: Part-Time, Hourly; Non-Exempt

This Back Lot Security position is committed to providing World Class Service for all Donald L. Tucker Civic Center back parking lots for all events and is responsible for the validation and protection of VIP guests and employees and their vehicles. The position is responsible for providing a positive first impression with World Class Service. The position requires physical activity including standing, walking, and climbing stairs. The position will be expected to work with the Event Staff, Security and Parking Staff to ensure a safe and secure environment for all guests. The Back Lot Security is a provider of direct service to our guests and must always exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Controlling/monitoring entry to the VIP and employee parking lots
• Provide all guests a positive first impression by offering World Class Service
• Monitoring back parking lots for safety and security of VIPs and employees and vehicles
• Provide VIPs and staff with directions and other venue information
• Validate Parking passes and direct VIPs and employees to correct lot
• Ability to maximize amount of vehicles per lot
• Respond to all comments/complaints in a prompt, courteous and professional manner
• Maintain Security of all back lot entities including but not limited to; Lot perimeter, basketball personnel, VIPs, tour buses & trucks, and other vehicles per event needs.
• Maintain a neat and clean appearance during all scheduled shifts
• Enforce safety and security regulations as required
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Conduct regular patrols of back parking lots
• Enforce all parking regulations and policies

Qualifications

• Prior parking and/or security experience strongly preferred but not a must
• Customer Service skills are a must
• Must be polite, friendly and possess excellent interpersonal skills as this position has extensive guest and employee contact
• Ability to multi-task
• Must have reliable transportation
• The ability to work various hours as needed including early mornings, late nights and weekends
• The ability to work extended hours and multiple days in a row, based on event needs.
• The physical stamina to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances
• Ability to work outdoors with extreme heat and weather conditions
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to lift a maximum of 25 pounds with or without

Intellectual/Social demands:

• While performing duties of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time constraints. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to motivate and inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with employees and other staff. Employee must be able to recognize and resolve conflicts, and be able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with employees and collaborate with Director of Finance to determine an optimal solution to their concern. Employee will frequently communicate via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information.

Physical demands:

• While performing duties of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, telephones, copy machines, faxes and printers. Employee will sometimes move about inside and outside various areas of the facility to interact with employees and other staff. Employee must constantly communicate via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. Employee may occasionally be required, due to business demands and event operations, to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work environment:

• The duties of this position are performed primarily in doors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and moderate to loud during event days.
