NYC Office Of The Mayor is Hiring an Executive Director, Family Justice Center, Bronx Near New York, NY

The Executive Director will provide oversight for the direction of the New York City Family Justice Center
in the Bronx. The NYC Family Justice Center Bronx FJC offers coordinated services to survivors of
domestic and gender-based violence in one location mainly through on-site personnel who work for
partner organizations such as nonprofit organizations and other city agencies. This position reports to
the Assistant Commissioner for Family Justice Centers and Outreach at ENDGBV.

Job Responsibilities for the Executive Director include, but are not limited to:

  • Being responsible for the day-to-day operation of the FJC;
  • Directing the work of the Deputy Director, Director of Programs and Community Partnerships, Program
Coordinator and Executive Assistant and offering supervisory assistance as needed to all co-located staff;
  • Serving as primary liaison with City and State agency partners, including the District Attorney’s Office, NYPD,
elected officials, Family, Criminal and Supreme Courts, civil legal organizations and community partners to
the FJC;
  • Overseeing program evaluation and reporting on all grants that fund the FJC;
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of the FJC policies and procedures;
  • Ensuring regular training for all FJC staff and volunteers on a wide variety of topics including domestic
violence dynamics and legal options for survivors;
  • Coordinating and attending FJC partner meetings and acting as primary liaison for the civil legal providers,
NYPD and the District Attorney’s to ensure on going collaboration between the criminal justice agencies and
civil legal professionals;
  • Representing the FJC at coalition meetings, task forces and/or committees addressing domestic violence,
the legal system’s response to domestic violence, elder abuse and sex trafficking;
  • Overseeing and conducting outreach, educational and program activities regarding domestic violence and
other related topics;
  • Serving as primary liaison with City agency partners on building maintenance and security staff;
  • Monitoring the implementation of current onsite programming including the order of protection filing
program, onsite civil legal services, the mental health program and the children’s services.
  • Developing new partnerships and programs for the FJC; and
  • Recommending policy changes that streamline and enhance City services.

Preferred Qualifications and/or Skills:

  • Extensive experience in the field of domestic and gender-based violence preferred;
  • J.D. or MSW degree strongly preferred;
  • An understanding of the network of City and nonprofit service provision in New York City and the legal
system’s response to domestic and gender-based violence preferred;
  • Extensive managerial and supervisory experience;
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent time management ability including the ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations
and tight deadlines;
  • Ability to work well in a diverse team environment with all levels of supervisory and frontline staff; and
  • Comfort giving public presentations.

Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
